PAIdojoTerms of service

Terms of service

Last revised: 2026-10-01 (改定日) · earlier versions available on request at support@paidojo.com · PAIdojo β

1. The service (β)

PAIdojo is an online language dojo: a structured curriculum, 1-on-1 lessons with human teachers, practice tools, and an AI conversation partner. The service is in open beta — features may be added, changed, or marked 🚧 while we build. We aim to warn before removing anything you rely on.

2. Your account

You need an account (managed by our authentication provider, Clerk) to study. Keep your sign-in secure, give accurate information, and use one account per person. You must be old enough to consent to these terms in your country, or have a parent or guardian's consent. For a child under 16, a parent or guardian creates and manages the account.

If you live in Japan and are under 18, you need a parent's agreement to buy credits.

3. Lesson credits

Lessons are booked with lesson credits (1 credit = US$1). Credits are bought as a pack or as an amount you choose. Each purchase or grant forms its own batch and carries a fixed expiry date: six months from the date that batch is granted. Batches are never combined, and a later batch does not extend the expiry of an earlier one — each batch keeps the date it was given. When you book a lesson, the batch closest to expiring is spent first. Credits are not transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash.

4. Cancellation & refunds

Cancel a lesson at least 24 hours before its start time and your credits are returned to your account in full. You may instead reschedule within that same 24-hour limit, to a time at least 24 hours ahead: the lesson keeps the price it was booked at, and no credits are taken or returned. Cancellations later than 24 hours before start are charged. If your teacher does not show up, you are refunded in full — you can report a no-show from 5 minutes after the scheduled start.

Refunds under this section are returned as lesson credits, not cash. A refunded amount forms a new batch with its own six-month expiry, running from the date of the refund. Statutory refund rights in your country are not affected by these terms.

If a purchase is refunded, the credits from that purchase, including any bonus, are removed from your balance.

5. Acceptable use

Be a good dojo member: no harassment of teachers or students, no abuse of the AI companion, no attempts to break, scrape, or overload the service, no sharing your account, and no using lessons or content for anything unlawful. Course content is ours (or our partners'); it is licensed to you for personal study, not for redistribution.

A parent or guardian may sign in to and manage a child's account they created; this is not sharing an account.

We may suspend or close accounts that seriously or repeatedly break these rules. Where reasonable, we will warn you first.

6. Liability

The service is provided as-is during beta. We work hard to keep it reliable, but we cannot promise uninterrupted availability, and we are not liable for indirect damages. To the extent permitted by law, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited.

7. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the service grows. For meaningful changes we will give notice on the site and by email before they take effect. Continuing to use the dojo after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.

8. Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by the laws of Japan. The Tokyo District Court has exclusive jurisdiction as the court of first instance for any dispute arising from or relating to these terms.
